Everything You Need to Know About Getting Licensed in Texas

This service is ideal for bar, restaurant, and store owners who want to sell alcohol in Texas. We handle the complex TABC and local approval process — from permits to paperwork.

What's the difference between TABC and local approval?
You need both. TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) issues the state permit, but your city or county must also certify your location. We handle both tracks for you.
What do I do after I pay the service fee?
You'll answer a bunch of questions in a chat format about your business, premises, and permit type. We use this to prepare your TABC AIMS application and local certification documents.
Do I need a surveyor? How does that work?
Yes — Texas requires a sealed distance survey from a licensed surveyor to prove you're not too close to schools, churches, or hospitals. We coordinate this with a local surveyor partner in your area, so you don't have to.
What's the 60-day sign requirement?
For certain permits (BG, MB, BE), you must post a 24x36 sign at your location for 60 days before TABC issues the license. We'll send you the exact PDF to print and detailed instructions on how to post it.
How long does it take to get approved?
The 60-day sign period is the longest part. After that, TABC typically takes 2-4 weeks to process. Total timeline is 60-90 days from start to finish.
What documents do I need to upload?
(1) Business entity documents (Certificate of Formation, FEIN), (2) Lease or property deed, (3) Personal ID for all owners/officers, (4) Floor plan or sketch of your premises.
How much do government fees cost?
TABC fees range from $1,900 (BQ beer/wine permit) to $5,300 (MB mixed beverage permit) for a 2-year license. City and County fees are typically $200-300 total. These are not included in our $2,000 service fee.
What if someone objects to my application?
Objections are rare but possible during the public notice period. If it happens, TABC will schedule a hearing. We can help you respond and prepare, or connect you with a local attorney if needed.
Do I need a surety bond?
Yes, for most bars and stores (not restaurants with a Food & Beverage Certificate). The bond amount is usually $5,000-$10,000, but you only pay the premium (~$100-400/year). We'll tell you exactly what you need.
Can I do this from out of state?
Mostly yes. We handle the TABC AIMS portal digitally. However, you (or someone on your behalf) will need to post the 60-day sign at your location and may need to visit your local permit office to submit notarized documents.
What's the difference between a BQ, BG, and MB permit?
BQ = beer/wine off-premise (store to-go sales). BG = beer/wine on/off-premise (restaurant or bar without spirits). MB = mixed beverage (full bar with spirits). We'll help you pick the right one.
Can my application get rejected?
Rejections are rare if everything is prepared correctly. The most common issues are incomplete documents, incorrect surveys, or failing to post the 60-day sign. We help you avoid all of these.
